For independent labels, boutiques, and vintage stores
Independent stores, side by side.
Panopie is a new clothing marketplace where each store keeps its own name, prices, shipping, and return policy. We’re building it so shoppers can browse many stores and check out from one bag.
Why we’re building it: good independent stores are easy to miss online, and hard to shop together. We want a place where your store sits next to others like it, and you still run it your way.
Where we are now. Panopie is in a private pilot, and the marketplace itself is not public yet. No store is selling, and shoppers can’t buy anything. We aren’t taking store applications yet.
What makes Panopie different
-
Your store stays yours.
Your store page shows your store name, your pieces, and your policies. You set your prices, ship your own orders, and handle your own returns, following the pilot terms and the law.
-
Sell anywhere else, too.
Panopie isn’t exclusive. Keep selling on your own site, in your shop, and anywhere else.
-
One bag, many stores.
We’re building checkout so shoppers can add pieces from different stores to one bag and check out from there. Each store is still the seller of its own pieces and ships them itself.
-
Every store and listing is reviewed.
We review each store, and each listing and its photos, before it goes live. Review checks that a listing is complete and has no obvious problem. It doesn’t confirm that what the listing says is true.
-
New or pre-owned, on every listing.
Every listing must say whether a piece is new or pre-owned.
- Pre-owned: a condition grade and notes on any wear.
- Listed under Vintage: it must say whether it is a new piece in a vintage style, pre-owned vintage, or unworn vintage (deadstock).
- Pre-owned vintage and unworn vintage: at least 20 years old, with the era.
These are the store’s own statements.
Fees, and what we don’t do
- Fees.
- Fees are set out in the pilot terms we share with each store we invite. Panopie won’t charge you any fee that you haven’t accepted.
- What we don’t do.
- We don’t promise traffic, sales, or a date for opening to shoppers. We don’t inspect, authenticate, or guarantee products.
How stores join
We invite stores in batches, and we’re starting small so we can get to know each store. We aren’t taking store applications yet.
The pilot is not offered in Quebec. We don’t accept stores based in Quebec or shipping from Quebec.
- Got an email from us?
- Our first emails were signed THREADLINE, Panopie’s earlier name, and came from our founder’s own email address. To hear more, reply to that email or write to hello@panopie.com.
- Haven’t heard from us?
- If you’d like to hear when we invite more stores, write to hello@panopie.com. We can’t promise an invitation. Please don’t send ID documents, tax numbers, or product files.
Your email. If you email us, we use your email address and message only to answer you, including to tell you when we invite more stores, and to keep a record of our contact with your store. Our email service providers may store messages outside Canada. To ask what we hold about you, to ask us to delete it, or to stop hearing from us, write to the same address.
For shoppers
Shopping isn’t open yet. We plan to open to shoppers only after enough stores are live and checkout is ready. We don’t have a date yet. There’s nothing to buy or set up yet, and we’ll update this page when that changes.
